Something I’ve never mentioned since moving to Finland is the abundance of thrift stores.
When I say abundance, I’m not joking, a query to Overpass Turbo querying second_hand stores, I could find more than 65 in the Helsinki region!
In the past few days, I’ve been visiting a few with a friend, to see if I couldn’t find anything, and so far, I’m very happy with what I’ve found.
7€ for a new dress, 4€ for a skirt; even found a laptop bag for my Framework 16 at around 6€. In short, it’s cheap, generally the clothes are in good condition (but do check before buying as always), and it’s always fun to rummage through random stuff.
The closest one even has a book section containing German, French, and even Chinese books, which isn’t something I see everywhere (for instance, back in France, I would mainly see books in French).
If you’re interested in finding one nearby, turns out the query is quite simple. In any case, you’re never too far from a UFF store around Helsinki.
In bonus, if you have old stuff you don’t wear anymore, you can just go ahead and donate those within the ton of boxes that are spread around cities. I get rid of my old stuff, I get cheap stuff, win-win.
