I’ve talked about Solokeys on here before. I backed their v2 crowdfunding campaign in 2021, hoping for good and open security keys, and ended up receiving them in 2023.
Right at this point, the project just went dead. Complete silence, no updates at all.
So, is it still dead? Yup.
The last update of the solo2 repository was two years ago, with most of the code untouched for five to seven years; their last blog post dates back from 2023, but somehow, it seems they still want to sell us their keys.
Besides all those issues, I also have my own with the hardware itself. They usually work, however, at the beginning of my usage, my USB-C V2 just completely reset itself out of the blue. This one also has the tendency of making very scary noises when it gets unplugged for some reason.
The least they could have done is publish something about the halting. As with the previous time, take your money elsewhere that takes their customers more seriously, like Yubico or Nitrokey.
Currently testing a Nitrokey 3A Mini and must say, I’m amazed at how small that thing is. A great fit for my laptop.
