Taking a step back

I have decided to take a small step back from public-facing Resonite online spaces.

This decision was taken as nowadays, while there are some wonderful things and (lots of) constructive feedback, the load of bad-faith remarks about the Resonite Team being “lazy” or “not transparent”, or whatever ill you may think of is honestly wearing me down.

I am keen to hear feedback about my work; hell, that’s how you’re supposed to improve at all; however, feedback must be in good faith and consider what has been done and how things have been going.

While some are saying some issues are “open for too long”, or that the update schedule “too slow” while asking us to do something else, remember something important: anything we start working on will delay something else. If we write docs, the update will take longer to make. If we work on the update, the small bug fixes will have to wait. Etc.

I love using and making Resonite, so does the whole team. Personally, I’m just tired, and I think this is echoed by other team members. So please, be a bit patient; I know this is frustrating, but you can’t just make and improve software with the snap of a finger. Not only burning out sucks, but it would delay updates and bug fixes even further, so please, patience.

The Purple Hour will still happen every third Tuesday of the month at 19:00 UTC; however, I would kindly ask to please stop asking me about bug fixes and features while I am in public worlds. If I’m in those, that means I’m relaxing; those belong on the GitHub. Same with DMs, in doubt, create an issue, at worst, we will redirect you somewhere more relevant or ask for more information; you do not need permission to voice your concerns, feedback, and ideas.

I love Resonite and its community, and I do know lots of the feedback is very encouraging, in both the positive and negative aspects; I appreciate all of you for reporting bugs and other mistakes I’ve made. Nothing makes me happier to see how creative people are, and all the social connections made on Resonite.

One last thing: I am not a moderator, telling me about moderation issues is useless; I do not have modification rights on the guidelines, ToS or whatever policies either. I can’t ban people from the platform nor the Discord, so please, direct those messages to the moderation portal.

I’m just the CI/CD purple creature, for fuck’s sake.

Thanks a lot for the kind words.
It always ends up being a minority being loud enough to affect things like that.

In any case, focusing a bit more on hobbies in general has also helped a lot, and I’ll continue that way in the foreseeable future.
