Avoiding stutters from the KDE task switcher

For some reason, my KDE is stuttering when doing some stuff, most notably, when using ALT+TAB to quickly swap windows.

Every time I would switch windows, there would be a micro-stutter freezing the entire screen for half a second, which I hate.

Solving that turned out to be fairly easy: going into the settings, search “Task switcher”, and in there set:

  • Uncheck “Show selected window”
  • (Option right below) to “Compact”

And now it’s all buttery smooth, and I can use my computer without having bad memories from my old machines.
